This 5+ day structural geology field course is offered through Applied Stratigraphix and features trips to the Arbuckle and Ouachita Mountains with a focus on fractures and fold and thrust belts.
Dr. Turko is an associate of Applied Stratigraphix and offers a series of courses taught in the field, in-house, and virtual. These are structural geology courses designed for both the oil and gas industry and well as mining and mineral exploration.
This 1-2 day field trip to the Wichita Mountains in SW Oklahoma gives participants an opportunity to study the kinematic indicators of brittle (vs ductile) deformation in granites. We also discuss the impact of pre-existing structures on later tectonics and enjoy several moderate hikes. Please email us for more information.
A short 1-2 day field trip to the Arbuckle Mountains gives participants an opportunity to study deformation and fracturing along thrust, strike-slip, and normal faults. Plus it's a great opportunity to see the world famous Woodford source rock and eat some fried pies.
